ABOUT ABOUT

The 2016 Wrestling Springfest, sponsored by the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, features three events in one: the Prep-Public Braggin' Rights Dual Meet, our annual Spring Awards, and a college wrestling fair.  The Springfest will be held at the Belmont Hill School on Sunday May 1, 2016.

This year's spring awards will be presented to recipients of coach-of-the-year and outstanding wrestlers from the youth, high school, and collegiate ranks at 11AM in the Wadsworth Room.  Featured awards are the Massachusetts winners of the annual Peckham Scholarship Award and the Schultz Award, which are presented to wrestlers who honor the legacies of James Peckham and Dave Schultz through their athletic, academic, and community endeavors.

Immediately following the Spring Awards (at Noon), the College Wrestling Fair will begin.  The college fair is a new element (in its second year) that is intended to bring together high school wrestlers and college wrestling coaches.  Many high school wrestlers have misconceptions about college wrestling, or are unsure if it's the right fit for them.  The college wrestling fair gives high school wrestlers and parents the opporunity to meet in person with college coaches and learn more about collegiate wrestling.

At 1PM, the Prep-Public Braggin' Rights Dual Meet gets underway, while the college wrestling fair continues in the same gym.  The dual meet features some of the best prep and public school wrestlers in the region vying for bragging rights... and displaying their talents for the college coaches who are in the gym.  This year, there will be a focus on showcasing high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in wrestling in college.

During the Braggin' Rights dual meet (starts at 1PM), wrestlers can meet and greet with coaches from numerous New England clleges, including Bridgewater State, Daniel Webster, Norwich, Plymouth State, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams, Sacred Heart, Springfield, Trinity, Wesleyan, and Western New England College.

The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame promotes wrestling on the youth, high school, and collegiate levels.  By recognizing excellence and honoring wrestlers, coaches, and other outstanding people in our wrestling commmunity, the hall of fame endeavors to preserve our heritage, inspire the next generation, and grow the sport of wrestling.
